The price of renting a cherry tree is £49 (£48 plus £1 transaction fee).
For this, we will look after your tree and enable it to produce the best crop of cherries each year for you to pick at harvest and take home to enjoy. All the cherries on ‘your’ tree are yours to keep.
As a guide, the price of cherries in supermarkets can range from £6 – £12 a kilogram. The yield on your tree will obviously vary, but in an optimum year could be as much as 10 kilograms, meaning lots of cherries for your friends to enjoy as well.
If you rent your tree for more than one year the tree yield should average out and will make up for if there is a below par crop. We experienced a poor crop in 2012 due to the awful weather conditions, however the previous 2 years yielded around 15kgs per tree so this would average out at 11kg a year if you had rented for all 3 years. In 2013 the crop was of superb quality again with the yield around 13kgs/tree so everyone that stuck with their tree after 2012’s disappointment was more than rewarded. Both the 2014 and 2015 crops have also turned out to be fantastic crops of cherries. In 2016 the crop was slightly below par due to some very cold weather in May affecting pollination. In 2018, the cherries were possibly the best ever – the yield was about average, however due to the long hot summer the depth of flavour was out of this world; a summer and harvest to remember!
Why not rent a tree together with a friend or work colleagues?
You will also receive at least 6 newsletter updates per year, a personal point of contact and the option to come and enjoy a blossom walk in the spring where we also have a hog roast for you to enjoy and a farmers market with a selection of all the best local producers. Furthermore, you will receive a tree certificate confirming your cherry tree. This certificate can then be personalised however you wish.
